who is vicious clay?
Think: If The Black Keys and Gary Clark Jr. stumbled into a late-night bar where Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were spinning old grunge records, the result might sound like Vicious Clay.

Vicious Clay is the sonic embodiment of an adventurer’s spirit—gritty, reflective, and unapologetically bold. Blending the raw energy of Grunge and Garage Rock with the soul of Blues, the New York-based indie rock band channels personal stories and existential themes into a sound that’s both timeless and fiercely modern.
The band’s music dives deep into themes of struggle, resilience, and self-discovery. Each song weaves moments of doubt and determination into a larger journey—one that’s introspective, fearless, and unafraid to confront the unknown. At the core of the songwriting lies a desire to carve meaning out of chaos and to find clarity through distortion.
In 2018, Brazilian-born musician Vinny Silva stepped into the studio with a singular vision: to record a collection of songs he had been developing for years. Playing every instrument and handling all vocals himself, he created what would become the band’s debut release, the Vicious Clay EP, which dropped in April 2020. Since 2019, Vicious Clay has evolved into a powerful live trio, performing throughout the NYC area and building momentum with every show.
The upcoming full-length album, Bleecker St Revisited—written and recorded by Vinny—is set for release in 2025, marking a major step forward in the band’s sonic journey.
Vinny Silva is an established musician in the NYC music scene. With over two decades of experience and a background spanning performance, songwriting, production, education, and music entrepreneurship, his career reflects a deep and lifelong commitment to the craft.
Outside of the band, Vinny has worked on countless projects across genres and stages—performing with and alongside acts such as Amy Allen, Nella, Sam James, The Velvicks, and the legends Jimmy Page and Harry Belafonte, appearing at iconic venues like Gramercy Theater, Irving Plaza, Stephen Talkhouse, National Sawdust, TD Garden, and Agganis Arena. He has recorded his productions at studios such as Studio 606 (Sound City Studios' legendary console), Avatar (Power Station NYC), iiwii Studios, Red Bull Studios, Studio G and Mighty Toad Studio, to name a few.
