who tf is vicious clay?

Vicious Clay is the sonic outlet of Brazilian-born musician, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Vinny Silva.

Built around the raw energy of rock n roll and drinking from both its classic and current strands, Vicious Clay turns life stories, existential questions, struggle, beauty and resilience into songs that feel both deeply personal and unapologetically loud.

Vinny began developing Vicious Clay as a solo recording project, writing, performing, producing, and recording every instrument and vocals himself. The project's debut self-titled EP arrived in 2020. Since then, Vicious Clay has evolved from a one-man studio project into a powerful live band, bringing the songs to stages throughout New York City, the Northeast, and beyond.

At the center of the music is a simple tension: doubt versus determination. Vicious Clay's songs don't necessarily offer easy answers—they wrestle with uncertainty, identity, and the search for meaning while continuing to move forward.

That combination of introspection and grit is what gives the project its identity.

Released November 7, 2025, bleecker street revisited  is the culmination of years of songwriting, recording, and experimentation by Vinny Silva.

Vicious Clay's latest single, oh hi u , released in June 2026, continues the project's restless, guitar-driven approach while opening the door to a new chapter of music.

Vinny's approach to recording is deliberately hands-on. He writes the songs, performs the instruments and vocals, and handles production—giving Vicious Clay an unusually direct connection between the original idea and the finished recording.

 

The result is music that sounds lived-in rather than manufactured: distorted guitars, grooves, melodic hooks, and a narrative voice that leaves room for both vulnerability and volume.
